The Fat-Burning Magic of Green Coffee Beans

“I’m trying to lose a few pounds, but it’s so hard!”

Obesity is literally a growing problem in the U.S.

In 1997, 39% of adults were overweight or obese. Today, the percentage is closer to 60%. And research shows that, if the trend continues, it will rise to 85% by 2030.[1]

Researchers from South Korea’s Myongii University divided obese mice into two groups. One ate a high-fat diet. The other ate the same diet with GCBE. After four weeks, the GCBE-fed mice had significantly less body fat.

The Journal of Evidence-Based Integrative Medicine published another review of studies. Researchers found that GCBE helped dieters lose two to 17 pounds.[5]

A study published in the journal BMC Complementary and Alternative Medicine found that GCBE inhibited fat absorption in mice.[6]

Green Coffee Bean Health Benefits

GCBE has other noteworthy benefits:

  • Fights metabolic syndrome. Metabolic syndrome is comprised of: high blood pressure, high blood sugar, high levels of triglycerides, low levels of HDL (“good”) cholesterol, and belly fat. It increases your risk of heart disease fourfold. And it makes you 30 times more likely to develop diabetes.A recent study looked at 50 people with the condition. Some of the subjects took 400 mg of GCBE twice daily. The rest took a placebo. After eight weeks, the GCBE group had lower blood sugar, lower blood pressure, and smaller waist measurements.[7]
  • Reduces diabetes risk. Research published in JAMA Internal Medicine reviewed studies involving coffee consumption. Drinking three to four cups a day was linked with a 30% lower risk of type 2 diabetes.This benefit was due to the coffee’s chlorogenic acid content. Chlorogenic acid is a powerful antioxidant that helps regulate blood sugar. The study used regular coffee, but green coffee beans are even richer in chlorogenic acid.[8]

Green coffee bean extract has less caffeine than regular coffee. Reported side effects include insomnia, nausea, and increased heart rate. Check with your doctor before using it.
